zeke Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Last week I finally installed 2007ATX, & rolled over my personal return just to be sure all was ok. When I opened my return, I got the message that all forms not yet rolled over & did I want to roll them over when available. I said yes & my return opened. OK, this works, & closed program down. Worked on payroll, etc, not to worry. Yesterday, (Tuesday) I opened the program, & my return & got same message. When I went to line 7 & tried to bunny hop to w-2 input, Program properly asks if I want to jump to w-2 or line 7 input screen. The line 7 choice works properly, but the W-2 choice locks up the program. The ONLY input then accepted is the uper right "X" that closes the window & program, - back to my desktop. Further checking indicates that I can load c, f, 4562, e, etc. I cannot load INPUT screens for w-2, 1099-int or 1099-R. I closed my return & rolled over another. Same result! I have since tried the following to no avail: updating program. Closing & reopening program. Deleting & rolling over return again. Starting new return. Rebooting computer. verified correct microsoft XP firewall settings per KB9399. uninstalled program. reinstalled program. updated program. Tried tech support - busy signal. Now the kicker! The same disc was loaded on secretary's machine & works!! Slept on it. Customized master forms (1040 & ; restored master forms. 2006 program still works fine. Again, I cannot access input screens for W-2, 1099-int or 1099-r. Program locks up when I try. I sincerely appreciate any input that may help me resolve this problem. Quote
Gregster Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Did you try adding the W2 Form separately and keying the information in there instead of using the Jump To command? It might also be the customizing of the Form 1040 could be causing a problem... I try to stay away from customizing tax forms themselves as this can cause issues when the forms are inevitably updated later...What data field is customized on the 1040 & B? Customizing invoices, etc is fine, generally. Quote
zeke Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Tks Gregster! I had to specifically download the w-2 worksheet. The same process should work for my other input problems. I used to take 4 hours to do a return. Now with the computer, i do the return in 15 minutes & spend 4 hours maintaining program & equip. Those of us that remember carbon paper sometimes have doubts that this is a net gain.... Anyway, Thanks again. Quote
