B. Jani Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I have couple who is getting pension from UK government direct deposit to their US bank account. I created 1099-R with the info from the letter and amount and selected UK as foreign country. But when try to create efile, gives me red error asking me Payer's Tax ID number. How do I bypass this to efile the return or am i missing anything? TIA. Quote
Kea Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Just a guess -- What about putting it on Line 21 as "UK Pension"? By putting it on 1099R worksheet, would IRS try to match to a form that won't come in? Quote
Pacun Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 How about paying taxes to the Queen on the pension and NOT mentioning it on the 1040? Check the tax treaty. Quote
