TIA B Jani If the college participates on the financial aid program provided by the department of education AND she paid for tuition (or got a loan), she could qualify for AOC. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 What degree is granted from Hair Dresser college that qualifies for AOC? Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 It does not have to be a degree, it can be another recognized education credential. This includes most trade school certifications, which is what she would get from Cosmetology School. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Pub. 970 states qualification for AOC: Student must be pursuing an undergraduate depree or other recognized education credential. Quote
mcb39 Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 My Cosmotologist client has a Credentials License as well as an Operators License. I know this because I just had to renew both of them for her. Also, she had to complete continuing Ed this year to get it renewed. (Did not take any education credits for her this year because it was only a three day renewal course.) I agree with gailtax that the AOC should be allowed. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 Good enough, then, it's a recognized educational credential. B Jani, you then may also want to look at additional books, supplies and equipment that would have been needed. AOC includes those and I can imagine that there would be needed supplies and equipment to learn hair dressing. Quote

Pacun Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 I wish I could write off my wife's ridiculously expensive blow dryer and straightener thing!!! It is deductible. You can deduct it from her restaurant allowance. Quote
