I have a young client who went to Hair Dresser college. She got 1098T with the tution listed on box 1. All other criteria met so Can she be entitled to AOC or Life time learning?

What say you?

TIA

If the college participates on the financial aid program provided by the department of education AND she paid for tuition (or got a loan), she could qualify for AOC.

My Cosmotologist client has a Credentials License as well as an Operators License. I know this because I just had to renew both of them for her. Also, she had to complete continuing Ed this year to get it renewed. (Did not take any education credits for her this year because it was only a three day renewal course.)

I agree with gailtax that the AOC should be allowed.

Good enough, then, it's a recognized educational credential. B Jani, you then may also want to look at additional books, supplies and equipment that would have been needed. AOC includes those and I can imagine that there would be needed supplies and equipment to learn hair dressing.

I wish I could write off my wife's ridiculously expensive blow dryer and straightener thing!!!

It is deductible.

You can deduct it from her restaurant allowance.
