red2 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 The checkmark in 'include program updates' stays marked even though I update my program. I am having a problem with Form 4868. Even though I have the latest version of the form, program will not let me efile the extension. I don't think my program is completely updating. Any suggestions? have been on hold with ATX for 50 min and not getting anywhere. Thanks Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I have not been able to create an e-file for 4868 either, but had assumed I was just to early this year. I update manually every day on my computer, and the other two do the automatic update whenever they sign on. But it has been a long time since I have been told that they update requires me to restart the program. I am concerned about that. Quote
red2 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 thanks for your response. ATX said they are aware of problem with checkmark...doesn't affect the program updates; even though the site says 4868 has been approved for efiling...ATX says it has not been approved yet. I have been with ATX for 9 years and have never ever experienced an 1hr 22 min try to fix or try to answer my question wait time. Since checkmark by the include program updates has stayed checked...I have been frantic that maybe the program has not been communicating with my forms. Sorry for the babbling... Hope you have a good day! Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Just wondering - MY program version is 2010.3.6 Does anyone have a later version? Quote
JRS Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Same version - 2010.3.6. My concern is when I update and the response is "some forms were not available for download"? and that is all?? :scratch_head: Quote
grandmabee Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 today is the first time in a long time that it told me to restart my program after updating. Quote
JRS Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 New version is 2010.4.5. (At least mine is.) Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Eerie, isn't it? I updated twice already since about 9 and checked the version after the note from JRS - it was the same. Suddenly, a new version and update! Get the feeling someone's watching? Nahhhh... Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 It is strange. I have the new version also, now, even though I had tried about 4 times to update this morning and nothing had changed as far as the program. And I could not find any place on the support site that actually told you what the current version should be. I hope whoever is watching will keep it up. Quote
jasdlm Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I know I sound like a complete moron, but I can't even figure out where to look to see what version mine is. I do manually update every day. Where do you find the version? Quote
JohnH Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 To find the latest date & time of a program update, go to the Download Center, then choose "2010 Program Updates" Then you will see this: ----> Last Tax Program Update On: Friday, March 11, 2011 12:41 PM <---- Quote

Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Sweet Bippie? You don't look old enough to know that phrase. Did you watch the recent program with highlights from Laugh-in? I missed it, will try to find it online. Quote

Gail in Virginia Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 But even after today's program update, I still can't create an efile for a form 4868. I have a client leaving the country until after the 18th of April , and I want to file his extension before it slips my mind! I guess once the corporations are done, I devote an afternoon to calling ATX and straightening out some problems. Quote
JohnH Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Well, if it only involves one client you could always take the dinosaur route and mail a paper one in by Certified Mail. That wouldn't prevent you from e-filing it later once the software catches up with your schedule. (I've filed duplicate paper 4868's for the same client many times for vairous reasons - never had a problem to result from the duplicate filings) Quote
red2 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Finally my program has mysteriously been updated. Thanks to all..I appreciate it. Quote
MargaretMort Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I just deleted an email from IRS saying they had fixed the 4868. MM Quote
TAXMAN Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 What would be nice if they told us what the program updated even if there were no forms that you needed to update. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 I think that would fall under TMI from their perspective. We are probably not on the 'need to know' list. But one could hope! Quote
