Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 New clients just left my office - moved to LA from Ohio in late Sept 2010. W2's reflect W/H from OH, Village of Delta, Bryan, and Toledo. What are the quirks to Ohio returns? Thanks, Lynn Lynn Jacobs, EA, FNTPI, NP Kenner, LA Quote
Jim Oh Bkkr Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Ohio Return should be calculated (automatically) as a full year resident through Line 12. Then Page 4, Sch D should calculate percentage of NON Ohio income to Ohio AGI. Percentage is then applied to total tax to calculate a credit (for LA income). Local(s) are most likely non-issues if client only worked there. (In my area) local return is only an issue in the area of RESIDENCE. But be careful W/H are "School District". There are no SD income taxes in my area, so I'm not real familiar with then. Jim Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 As mentioned, the percentage of non-Ohio income should be calculated. Form OH IT-2023 can prove useful in allocating the income whether or not 'required.' It is especially helpful I think with interest and dividends and other non-W-2 items when you know where earned but the system doesn't. Quote
