ljwalters Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Have a client that I decided not to do his 4 years back taxes. He doesn't have enough info and seems shady. I already have POA on him and Need to cancel it. I have convinced him it would be in his best interest to hire an attorney (or his moms CPA that got him into the trouble in the first place). He is coming today to pick up his papers. What is the process of canceling the 2848? and is it better for me to cancel it or the client? Thanks Linda and buddy Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 You can cancel it yourself, or you can ask him to do it. I'd choose the first option, since he does not sound too reliable. The second page of the instructions for the 2848 tells you exactly how to do it. Quote
barosser Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Write REVOKE on the top of the first page then also on the side of the page 2 by your signature and re-sign and date by the REVOKE and fax it the IRS. This should (HA) take you off. Works for us. Quote
