Kea Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 What, if anything, are you telling your clients about cell phones no longer being listed property? Great, we don't have the big documentation hassle to go through! But, if it is used for personal & business, how do you determine business usage without the log? Approximate guesses are now OK? I'm leaning towards not telling them & letting them keep their logs. After all, we already knowhow good most of those logs are anyway. Just curious what others are doing. Quote
jainen Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 >>how do you determine business usage without the log? << The same way I always did before. It's written right there on my ceiling, so all the client has to do is lean back in the chair and read it--"I only use this [phone/car/computer/Mastercard/...] for business 100%!" Quote
Terry O Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 AMAZING!!!!! you have the EXACT spot on your ceiling too???? WOW!!! Quote
Kea Posted February 18, 2011 Author Report Posted February 18, 2011 Yeah, I think we all do. It just comes with the business. But, I just don't remember ever putting those figures up there. Maybe they came in my 1st e-file packet with the stickers and display card? Not sure, though, because I think some of the non-efile preparers have those ceiling numbers, too. Quote
jasdlm Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I make them keep the log. They probably bad-mouth me behind my back, but I don't care. Quote
Kea Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 I agree that they have to have a log. The ones who find their logs on my ceiling don't get the deduction. Just curious about what others are doing about cell phone logs since they are no longer "listed." Quote
