mcb39 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 E-file Volume Announcement The IRS has advised us that a formal announcement is scheduled to be released Tuesday mid-morning. You may have already noticed a short delay in the time your e-file is received at the EFC and the time it is sent to the IRS. The IRS Electronic Tax Administration (ETA) has reached out to the software developer community asking for us to help monitor the flow of e-File submissions to all processing centers in anticipation of the high volume of returns containing one or more of the Extender forms waiting to be filed. ETA has established a maximum daily volume for each software transmitter for e-files transmitted via MeF and legacy. The purpose of setting maximum volume controls is to ensure the taxpayer’s e-file is processed as quickly as possible without causing significant processing delays by the IRS Submission Processing Centers. SFS will be distributing the volume controls evenly over all five Service Centers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kim Manuel VP - Customer Relations Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 EXCELLENT!!! First the long delay, now a "flow control" device to protect "THEIR" systems from crashing..... Gotta love the IRS and their Geeks.......... Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 It did seem to work, though, everything went smoothly, and all the acks are flowing smoothly, it seems. Quote
mcb39 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 I am having no excessive problems. The acks are taking a little longer; then all of a sudden you get a pile of them. After all, the acks were coming in unusually fast prior to this setback. If everyone holds their cool, we will get through this. I do believe it could have been a lot worse. Quote
GERALD Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I think everything will be OK once the push is over. HOWEVER, I dispute their comment about a "short time" at efc before going to IRS. I have a bunch that have been there over 24 hours without being transmitted to IRS. Quote

Yup Acks are definitely slower, but not panicking lol :-) Eli Quote
Pacun Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yup Acks are definitely slower, but not panicking lol :-) Eli I was sending returns today because tomorrow is the cut day. After tomorrow, not many people will efile anyways and by thursday, the IRS will catch up. Everyone that comes in on Thursdays or Fridays can be delayed since there is no difference on the refund date. Quote
