BulldogTom Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 If you are being brave and sending out your returns today, please post the experience with us. I am holding off for another day just in case the servers at CCH or IRS melt down. If it all looks good in the morning, I will be sending my 20+ returns that are sitting on my desk. Thanks Tom Lodi, CA Quote
Tax Prep by Deb Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I agree with you Tom, I'm hoping for a smooth transmission, however past experiences has told me to wait and see. So far this year e-file has been flawless for me, but with the weekly deadline coming up fast I would hate to have my clients returns stuck in limbo because of some sorf of melt down. Please, for you brave fokes that have sent, please keep us skeptics in the know! Deb! Quote

Thanks Tom Lodi, CA Getting ready to send a few, Tom. I will let you know :-). By the way I am having trouble with Form 5405 on a return. It says: Error: when filing form 1040, the following supporting forms are not allowed: 5405 Think maybe ATX has not updated their filing system to allow this form? Thanks! Eli Quote
rfassett Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Does this mean we can no longer stock pile returns? I have mine all around me helping me sit up straight. If I can no longer stock pile, I just might topple over. :) Quote
mcb39 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Smooth as peaches and cream. Every one that I had maked to send is gone. Also, have been e-filing the other kind all day, no waiting for server, nothing unusual. Just remember to update the program before you try to create e-files. Quote

NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I have sent a few today without any problems. Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I have not noticed a problem with e-file, but I am having a terrible time with EFTPS. Anyone else? Quote
rfassett Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Yes on the EFTPS. Just had a client call and say she could not get on the EFTPS website. So I tried for her and it reacted the same way. She was able to call it in with her EIN and PIN. Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I did finally log onto EFTPS long enough to make the one last payment I needed to make before tomorrow! Persistence pays off sometimes! Quote
jasdlm Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I'm having trouble this evening on the IRS efile services, also. Perhaps the IRS is having the system troubles now that all were fearing? Quote

Eli you cannot efile a current year fm5405, it must be paper filed. a suggestion, if it applies (i think this is correct), efile current year return without fm5405...and amend 2009 tax return with 2010 fm5405 carryback. bonus points...you get taxpayer 1 year's interest on $8000. Lion EA Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 What if the only thing on Form 5405 is the payback? Can that be efiled now? It was on the IRS's list of forms they're accepting as of today, but don't know if that meant via paper or efile. I have only one, and she's waiting on her consolidated 1099. I also efile through CCH but with ProSystem fx. They were holding one of mine, and another returned her signed forms this morning. Both continued to say Hold throughout the day, but now say Transmitted. Quote
Terry D EA Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I have sent quite a few using TRX and so far no problem but no acks either. Guess we will all know tomorrow. Quote
mccoystax Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Just got acks for 6 of the 9 e-files that I sent at 1130 this morning. So far so good. Quote

All new claims must be submitted paper file, however the payback can be e-filed. Deb! Quote
Janitor Bob Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I transmitted 11 e-files around 7:00pm and they went OK. However, it is now 11:00pm and they are still "Transmitted to EFC"......That status usually does not remain for so long. I expectedto see "Transmitted to Agency" by now. Oh well...guess i'll check back in the morning. Quote
taxbrewster Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Everything here is good....so far....submitted 15 returns, no ack yet. Quote
joanmcq Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I just updated, and there is a new version of the 5405 that allows efile (at least for the payback). So update, and try again. Now i'm going to try to send returns since most of you have said its going smoothly. Quote
Terry O Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Submitted 10 returns yesterday at 11:15 - -woke up this am all were accepted - - - ready to submit the States - - YAY!!! Quote

Pacun Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 All 11 of mine that I sent yesterday evening around 7pm still say "Transmitted to EFC" Same here. It seems there is a queue at ATX and another at IRS. I have some with a message that reads "Transmitted to EFC" and "Transmitted to Agency". I think the IRS is not allowing Software developers to send more returns. Quote
LouD Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 sent 8 returns out yesterday at 12:00 AZ time and got all 8 acks back this morning with approved - so that's good news. Now would love to see the 1040 planner come online soon! Quote
windmill Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Same as Terry O...submitted 10 and received 10 ACKS...back to normal so it seems. Quote
Lion EA Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Thanx to all for 5045 info. I have two returns that have been transmitted, but not yet accepted. IRS has rationed software companies on how many they can send per day, hoping to catch up by the end of Friday 18 February. CT shows accepted, though. Now to get to all the people that dropped off over the last couple of days! Quote
