Kea Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I know this topic was discussed before, but I just couldn't find it. (Maybe I'm too tired to find the right search criteria.) I plan to e-file a 7004 but I'm getting an error message to have an EFIN with the ERO firm name (or use neither). I don't have an EFIN. Was the answer to use my SSN? Or was it to get an EFIN or paper file? Thanks It's almost over!? Quote
Lion EA Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I'm just guessing that you pair up your firm name with its EFIN or else your personal name with your SSN. But, maybe it's some other combo! It does say your can use neither. Quote
Kea Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 My business doesn't have an e-fin. I guess I'll try my SSN. Or, I could always paper file - that's the only 7004. Quote
Lion EA Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I think what they're telling you is if you don't have an EFIN then do NOT use a business name. If self-employed, use your personal name and SSN. Your business name will not match your SSN, either. Maybe! Quote
Lila Godel Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I know this topic was discussed before, but I just couldn't find it. (Maybe I'm too tired to find the right search criteria.) Or was it to get an EFIN or paper file? Thanks It's almost over!? My understanding is that you must have an EFIN to e-file anything. If you ment EIN, but accidently inserted an F that is not required. Quote
Lion EA Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Oh, yeah, in my sleep deprived state I wasn't watching the letters in my responses, so misread the question. Yeah, use your EFIN that you file under and the matching business or personal name under which you e-file. As Lila said, if EIN then match it to your business name; if SSN then match it to your personal name. But, you can't e-file anything without your EFIN. Quote
Kea Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Sorry I didn't catch it either. Too late last night. I have an EFIN, (& and SSN, of course), but my business has no EIN. I also have a PTIN. I just love acronyms on 4/15! Quote
bstaxes Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I got mine to be accepted by deleting company name and no efin. I don't have efin, I used a ptin. Just delete both name and efin. Quote
Kea Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 I ended up deleting just the business name, leaving my name and PTIN. The e-file was created and transmitted. Now to see if it gets accepted. Thanks for the help and understanding my typos. Quote
