is there a limit on how small of refund before they will not mail out. Client has refund of 1.00 and just want to let them if they will receive it.

Don't know about the present, but in the late 60's I filed and received a refund for $1. I would assume that they would.

Isn't it interesting, though, how many state and local agencies are not remitting refunds under $1 or even $5? Yet my son received a correction on his return from the state. For 29 cents. Yes, for 29 cents. I have no idea how that could be because we file in whole dollar amounts. I have yet to see the letter. It did say not to pay if under $1. Wonder how much it cost to process and mail that sucker?

I had a client who got a state refund for $1. He was very amused; said it was the most enjoyment he'd gotten out of a dollar in a long time.

We came across an unopened Merrill Lynch letter for a clinet yesterday. It contained a check payable in the amount of $.01 (i.e. 1¢)! Gave us a good laugh.

tell them not to cash it then 6 months from now claim you never got it, the irs will issue and there will be a total cost of $20-$30 to get the check out.

maybe they can make a voluntary contribution for a $1 to ofset it.
