Don in Upstate NY Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 No question that points on principal residence are deductible. Question.... are points paid on 2nd home deductible? Mortgage interest (including points) is deductible on your main and one other personal residence. Points paid on your main home may be deducted in the year paid; points on a secondary home must be pro-rated over the life of the loan. See the details on page 158 of Pub 17. Quote

SunTaxMan Posted March 30, 2010 Author Report Posted March 30, 2010 Don, Your post is what I was thinking, just wasn't sure if I was remembering it correctly. Thanks By the way, where in upstate NY? We have a son in Friendship, NY (Allegheny County) and a Nephew and Niece in Rome. Quote
