clay Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I have had no problems efiling until today. I had 3 returns rejected for rejection code 767 - 3rd party designee info incorrect. I believe that on the 1040 it is the section between line 76 and the signature block. The returns have the "Yes" box checked off and "preparer" entered as the designee. A PIN should not be required but it seems like this is what the IRS is looking for in that section. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Quote
Kea Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 There's a discussion of this in the e-file section (not general chat). It was an IRS change. Quote

This is really stupid, for them to change ANYTHING, but especially such an irrelevant thing, at this date. But inputting your pin will solve it. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Sometimes it doesn't pay to update the forms! Quote
Catherine Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Sometimes it doesn't pay to update the forms! But if you don't you get an out-of-date form error. Grrr. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 True, Catherine. I was being facetious. Sort of you're punished if you do and punished if you don't! I guess we can complain when ATX is on the spot doing the right thing when we don't want them to and complain when they are behind whether or not their fault. I am still gnashing my teeth waiting for 6765 to get a client done so that I can fire them. Maybe there's a message there for me... Quote

Ray in Ohio Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 What can be used as a PIN number? Same as the ERO pin on the 1040 Efile info? Does it have to be the preparer's SSN or PTIN? Why now!!???????? Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I just filled in my zip code. Quote
Edward Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I checked NO on all my rejects. Will revert when this is all resolved. Quote
