WmMorris Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 "The student's name and SSN for Form 8863 must match the data from the IRS Master file." That sounds reasonable, except there is no 8863 in the return. The return has three children, all 7 or under. One is a newborn, so I was particularly careful about her SSN. These kids are all above average, but not college material yet. I've checked all the SSNs against their cards; no mismatches. Any ideas? Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 The only suggestion I would have is to make sure there is no stray X in the box for education expenses on the dependent information tab of the return. This is a new one to me. Quote
WmMorris Posted February 26, 2010 Author Report Posted February 26, 2010 I added the 1040 EdExp form, saved, deleted 1040 EdExp form and retransmitted. The return was accepted this time. Go figure! Quote
