Pacun Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 I am a DC preparer, I have a couple of TP who lived in MA half of the year and the other half in DC. Will I have problems if I try to efile MA returns? Do part year residents qualify for commuting credits? I am very interested in the efiling questions, so if you can answer that one, I will be happy. Catherine Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 You should be able to e-file -- you'll need MA Form 1NR/PY, not Form 1. Yes part year residents qualify for commuting credits but only over $150 per person (same as full year residents). Don't forget the rental credit, and the MA Form HC for proof of health insurance coverage! Also if there are capital losses, MA treats carryovers very differently. Feel free to message me directly if you have specific questions as you go forward. Catherine Quote
