Bart Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I have a client who is a partner in a partnership. The partners use their autos extensively in the business. The partnership pays for all their gas. I prepare the partnership return and this indiviuals return. He takes a mileage deduction on his personal return. I tell him I must decrease the mileage deduction by the amount of the gas paid for by the partnership. He now informs me that I will still prepare the partnership return but he will have someone else prepare his personal return. Is there anything I can or should do in this situation? Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I'm guessing that you are assuming he is making the change because he does not want to reduce the deduction? That may or may not be the actual reason, but I don't think it's your business to assume anything. He might just be trying to save a fee, planning to use the free filing, etc. You just need to do the return that you are hired to do, correctly. Quote
