Wendy Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I have a mental block. I have set up my new scanner Kodak 1120 and am looking forward to using it instead of having hard copies of docs. I know I can tell it where to save scanned documents, but how do I get the documents to associate to the tax return? I would like to open the return and be able to access the documents as well - or isn't that possible? I have ATX Max, but not Scan & Fill. Thanks. Wendy Quote
Catherine Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 What I do is put the pdf's in the computer folder for the client. I open the pdf on one monitor and have ATX open on the other monitor. There is a company (Copanion, I believe) that makes a product called GruntWorx (someone here recommended them last year; possibly KC but don't quote me). You upload your bare scan to them, and they organize and tag it all by document type. All 1099-INT's together, all K-1's, etc. Catherine Quote
Wendy Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 AHA! Thanks Catherine. So the scans are in a totally separate file from the t/r....... Quote
kcjenkins Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 If you open the ATX Document Manager, you can put the scanned files into it. The Document manager automatically makes, for each new client saved, a subfolder for "Source Doc" as well as one for the Tax Returns, and one for Work Papers. Quote
Wendy Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Thanks for that suggestion. This is my first year (due to the TRX deal) with TTO so I didn't know I should have it. Funny thing - I didn't have it. Saw on MyATX that I was supposed to and it gave a code to load - didn't work. Called tech support and ended up downloading it from a site he gave me. Hopefully it will work the same way as loading from the CD. Wendy Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Thanks for the jog, Wendy. Like you I have the TTO through TRX but am not sure what exactly I have or how to access it. I've only had MAX for the last several years. I'll call support to see what is in my goody bag! Quote
