kcjenkins Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Well, I did go to the seminar, and now I wish I'd saved the money. It was frankly disappointing. Extremely basic, and while the presenters were nice folks, the main one seemed only slightly familiar with the program herself. She did not even mention some of the more obvious shortcuts, such as opening new forms by using the 'bunny hop' instead of going to 'add forms', looking for the form and selecting it, then opening it. It might be worthwhile for a total newbie, but it sure was not worth it for anyone who had used the program for a while. I wish I'd saved my time, although I did win back the cost of the seminar in the casino on the way out! In fact, I made a small profit, but not enough to justify the time spent. Quote
MJG CPA Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Exactly my response to the previous post on ATX training. I went to Chicago and it was a complete waste of time. In my opinion, too basic even for a beginner. We had 3 people in the class who were getting ready to switch over to ATX and they were so bored they were all playing computer games. I was so disappointed, I submitted a request to ATX for a refund of the seminar fee (something I NEVER do), but have had zero response. Quote
lydia33 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 I thought it to be a little boring and underneath most of the stuff I knew already, but not like you kc I did not win my money back in the casino. I believe that it was to basic for anyone that has used it as long as I have. It was nice finally putting a face to a name though. Can't wait to apply the column widening process that I learned....Ha!Ha! Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 It was way too basic when I took it, especially since the instructor was actually from TaxWise and knew way more about that program than about ATX. THe instructor was nice, I think the book we got will be a really nice reference manual (much better than the one that came with the software), and I did learn a few things - but from the other class members. One of the most insulting things about the whole class situation was that they changed the location and did not notify anyone. We went to the originally published site in Charlotte, only to find they didn't know anything about us being there. Fortunately, they were nice enough to contact the site contractor and find out where we were really supposed to be. But I even called the day before to verify the time, and one of the students called to verify directions, and neither of us was told of the change in venue. I doubt I take any of their classes again. kcjenkins Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 I think that is going to be the direction the company is going. The sign in front of the one I went to was a TaxWise sign. Also, I just sent a message to the 'Suggestion box' on the My ATX' page, and got back an email that read "Thank you for using TaxWise e-mail. We strive to answer all e-mails within 24 hours. Be sure to check the Customer Support Site (support.taxwise.com) and the Knowledge Base where you can find the answers to the most common questions without a delay. We appreciate your business and will respond with an answer as soon as possible. So it looks like they are going to be attempting to merge the ATX and TaxWise programs. I don't know how well that will work, or whether I'll like the resulting product, but at least we will have the familiar ATX product for this coming season. Now, if I can just remember how to get into the support page! Quote
