bstaxes Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 2 clients called and told me that they mother's past away at the end of 2009. Neither of the parents, I believe, would have to file inheritance tax. Question does the deceased still get the $150 (400-250)? This stimulus sure does stimulate the brain even if the brain is overworked. I would assume the deceased would have to have gotten the 250. Quote
TAXBILLY Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Both mothers probably received the 250 in 2009. The 400 credit comes into play only if they worked. taxbilly Quote
kcjenkins Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Yes, there is no requirement that the taxpayer be alive to got it. That is assuming the deceased had 'earned income', of course. For retirees, the total is $250. Quote
