I don't think that you are doing anything wrong. Occasionally, someone may post and then change their mind about what they said or how they said it. Those buttons are on the bottom of your posts so that you can either delete it or change it for a time after you have posted it. They are not there for other people - only you can change your posts (except for KC and Erc - they can change anything for anyone.) Those buttons have been there for a while, but I think we are all noticing new things with this new format.

That is correct. You have the right to change or delete your own posts. And, I'll admit, from time to time I edit one to correct a spelling error or typo for someone. Not being sanctimonious, just to help clarify a post, usually.
