Tax Prep by Deb Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 My copier/printer just bit the dust and I am in the market for a new one. I do not need the scanner or fax, but would like a laser copier/printer. Currently I do about 225 returns per year and am looking for something reliable, speedy and won't cost an arm and a leg to replace toners. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Deb! Quote
Lion EA Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I've had the best luck with HP. All my HP printers are still working in our household/my home office. I think I might buy the little (small footprint) HP laser that prints 35 pages/minute before tax season. I have a huge color HP, but a small just B&W to keep closer to my desk would probably speed up my production. I'll keep the HP color in my office for correspondence, marketing materials, etc., but shift to the faster HP for printing tax returns. Of course, I also hope to print most of my copies to .pdf this year to have less paper to print out and store. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Deb, I have used HP Laserjets for years. I have an HP Laserjet 4200 that is very fast. The cartridge is pretty pricy, but mine will normally last me for at least a year, since I'm not printing all of the copies anymore. Bonnie Quote
rich Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 if you plan to use scan& fill with ATX than printer be Twain compliant. Rich Quote
Catherine Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I've been pretty happy with my Brother HL-4070CDW color laser. The toners aren't exactly cheap, but the hi-yield ones last a good long while. It's fast and prints duplex (both sides), and networks. The one t hing about it I don't like is that there isn't a long warning time between "Toner Low" and when it refuses to print any more. My other Brother machine will print for -weeks- after the "Toner Low" light comes on; this one barely a couple of days. So a spare black cartridge, especially during tax season, is good to have on hand. Quote
wendybooth Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 We use Brother as well. B&W laser printer. Our current machine is a MFC 8460N laser copies, scanning, printing and fax it was about $400 from office max and has lasted about 4 years so far. The toners are about $89 to replace and we usually use about 2 in a season. Quote
