Gail in Virginia Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I am sure there are many members, visitors and ghosts on this board who have served in the armed forces of this country at some time or another. I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone of you who has in any way served this country for your willingness to uphold our way of life. THANK YOU! Quote
L.S. Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Yes, thank you to ALL veterans. My 87 year old father, a veteran of WWII just died 2 weeks ago and this day always had lots of memories for him and for me. Of course he had military rights with taps and that is always so moving. My older brother, also a veteran (Viet Nam), has the flag that was draped over his casket. God bless you, Veterans! Quote

OldJack Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I am proud to say that as a young man I served my country in a foreign nation. It did not seem an honor at the time, but age makes one more aware of what is important in this life. Quote
kcjenkins Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 And if you would like to do something to thank an actual deployed American, but don't know how, try this link. http://anysoldier.com/ Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks to all and especially to my son, my nephew and his wife, my older brother, my brother-in-law, my former husband, and my now deceased father-in-law. It gives me pause knowing how many loved ones have served and how many I will never know have provided for my/our security. Thanks, KC, for that link. Quote

Foreign country or Stateside (as we found out last week) as LS said, "Some Gave All". Quote
Catherine Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 As usual, KC has a great idea -- thanks, KC, for the link. I would also like to say THANK YOU to all our colleagues here who have served, and thanks also go out to those who serve/served but do NOT subscribe to this board. Quote
Lion EA Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Thank you. When I was at the CCH Users Conference in MD, I took the last afternoon to bus into DC to visit the WWII Memorial that I had not yet seen. They happened to be honoring a group of vets from IL, my home. If my father were still alive, he could've been in that group. They performed a nice ceremony for the vets, a fancy dress Marine played Taps, etc. You can see the Lincoln Memorial from there; I walked over there, too, even though I've done that several times -- being from IL. Anyway, I went around saying thank you and shaking hands with our vets and thanking the volunteers. It was very moving. HonorFlight.org I need to go donate some money to keep it going. Quote
NECPA in NEBRASKA Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I would like to thank all of the veterans for serving our country. My stepson served in Iraq and is getting ready to go to Afghanistan so I really appreciate the good thoughts for all of our veterans; past, current and future. Bonnie Quote
Catherine Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 In addition to many family members who have served in the past, I currently have a cousin in Afghanistan (he was also in Iraq). So I also appreciate the wishes for our veterans. Quote
