bstaxes Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I got a new flash drive and tried to backup all my clients for archiving. In the backup part of ATX I am not getting a list of clients it is a blank screen. What am I doing wrong? I am ready to throw in the towel. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks. Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Did you set up an ATX BkUp directory on the flash drive? if so, select that directory from the browse key, then it should show them, unless you accidentally selected the Restore tab at the top. Quote
joans Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I am having the somewhat the same problem. I am trying to restore the backup and ATX isn't recognizing the F: Drive? What to do? Quote
mcb39 Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I am having the somewhat the same problem. I am trying to restore the backup and ATX isn't recognizing the F: Drive? What to do? Sara, instead of using backup and restore, I always use export and import. That always works for me when I am moving files from one computer to another. Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 If the program does not see your F drive, the problem is not with the program but with the connection to the flash drive. Try clicking on My Computer, and looking to see if the flash drive shows there. If not, you may need to remove it and then plug it in again. If you do see it there, then click on it, and look to see if the ATX backup directory is there. It could be something as simple as you plugged in the wrong flash drive. If the directory is there, click on it, and you should see the files. If so, you know everything is set there. Go back to the desktop, be sure that you closed the ATX program, and then try again to use the backup/restore utility. When you do, be sure you are using the restore tab [top] and then browse to find the flash drive, and the directory on it. If that does not work, come back and tell us what happened. Quote
bstaxes Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 Thanks for all your help. I was dumb because I did not click on start to backup. When I did the clients names appeared. Now I have it backed up. Sometimes it is the little things that really get ignored. I am now a happy camper. Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Hey, we all have those sort of 'moments' when we just overlook the obvious. Like when I thought I had a serious computer problem, because it was "locked up". Actually, I just had a dead battery in my mouse! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 KC, you have no idea to know how good it is to see that some of us are not alone in overlooking the obvious! Quote
kcjenkins Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Well, heck, if that makes you feel good, I'll share the worst of it. I actually called in my son, the systems engineer, to 'fix' it! He laughed his head off! Quote
