Catherine Posted August 9, 2009 Author Report Posted August 9, 2009 Congratulations! How exciting that we have amongst us a media celebrity! I plan to listen and learn. Oh that's right; scare me more!! Figured I'd do fine so long as the listeners knew _less_ than I do!! Catherine Quote
TAXBILLY Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Can I have your autograph? Actually it's not for me but for Booger. :~) taxbilly Quote

Booger Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Catherine, I won't be able to listen to it live, but do you know whether it will be available tonight? I would like to hear it. Booger Quote
Catherine Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 Catherine, I won't be able to listen to it live, but do you know whether it will be available tonight? I would like to hear it. Booger I have no idea -- perhaps there will be information at one of the two "listen live" sites I posted earlier. Or maybe they'll give me a tape.... Just finished my prep work and need to print out my notes for the host. Which means I have to disconnect from the internet and re-hook up to my printer. We've been having _horrible_ internet connectivity trouble since Friday and can't get a new modem before this Thursday. Maybe our good friends at VMSUS can talk me through some checks of our internal network -- but not before tomorrow!! All that blathering just means a) I'm nervous and I'm offline once I log off the forum. Thanks to all for the good wishes! Catherine Quote
Gail in Virginia Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Catherine, I thought you did a really good job. I didn't get to hear everything as a client came in right before you were on, but what I heard was right on point. I think you got your eight-ball the same place I got mine - I never can tell which way Congress will jump for sure either! And I hope people heard what you were saying about federal law on estates and gifts being waaaayyyyyy different than state law - Massachusetts isn't the only state where that is true. Good Job! Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 I am so bummed! A client called about 3 and proceeded to go through, practically line by line, her return. " I came up with more tax than you...What do you mean there is 0% tax on the $2012 of qualified dividends?" Sigh... I do hope you get a tape or they have a podcast or something for those of us who missed your stunning (per Taxbilly) debut! Quote
kcjenkins Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Good job, Catherine. Listened off and on, as the interuptions kept coming. I'm proud of you. You did a good job of a complex subject. Quote
Catherine Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 They promised me an audio and a video link by email. Once I get them, I'll post them here for those with timing-impaired clients, like Margaret and, of course, my dear Booger. Catherine Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks, Catherine! Booger for SURE and I are looking forward to the replay. Good phrase, that, "timing-impaired clients." That doesn't cover the catalog of impairments for them or me but is a phrase I shall certainly keep in mind! Quote
Booger Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 AMEN, Margaret! Can't wait until I hear it. Booger Quote
Catherine Posted August 11, 2009 Author Report Posted August 11, 2009 AMEN, Margaret! Can't wait until I hear it. Booger Here's a link (good for 14 days): https://rcpt.yousendit.com/724596997/54e341...8e8016202bfcdd8 And I'm about to upload the mp3 version. But I think I have to delete something else first; not enough space. They've asked if I'll be a recurring guest!! Catherine Quote
Catherine Posted August 11, 2009 Author Report Posted August 11, 2009 OK, now I think there's space. Quote
Booger Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Thanks, Catherine...I'll listen to it tonight (at a client's right now). Booger Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Yes, thanks, Catherine. And congratulations on being asked to return. That speaks so well of you and your expertise. I'm eager to listen and learn and look forward to subsequent broadcasts! Quote
michaelmars Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 JUST LISTENED, GREAT JOB, SOUNDED GREAT AND INFORMATIVE TOO. You sold yourself and talked with just the right amount of technicality for the lay person to understand. And the topic never sounded dry. Quote
Booger Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Catherine, listened last night. Great Job! Booger Quote
Catherine Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 Many thanks to all for the good words!! I'm sure every one of you could have done _at least_ as well. In fact, you should all take some of the credit if I did a good job -- I've learned so much from you all. Catherine Quote
kcjenkins Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Actually, it's not just knowledge that counts for this sort of thing, you have to also have a good "radio voice". Which many do not, but you DO. You sounded very professional, but also warm and caring. That's the sort of thing that may make you a 'regular guest' on the show. Which will certainly be good for your business, assuming you want more business. If not, it may still allow you to 'fire' some of your PITA clients and replace them with better ones. A win-win. Quote
