It seems TRX's software might be Tax Works by Red Gear. They are mailing me a demo copy of "their software." Hopefully, it will be software that they developed rather than another "resell" product. With all the software confusion that is going around by TRX and the price increases from CCH and the others AND the new proposed security requirements from the IRS, I am going to be rethinking how much longer I will practice.

It is another resale situation. Once they were limited to selling 500 copies of ATX, it appears that they are going to offer another product for resale.

According to LION on another board, HRB bought out Red Gear and their products, which is Tax Works.

Yes, I think they purchased them in 2007. If you do a search online for both names it comes up. I didn't realize the connection. But then again a lot of people don't have a big problem using Intuit owned tax software.

The software is definitely a Red Gear product. I have installed it, but not yet tried it, but it seems to be worksheet oriented.

I finally got around to trying the demo TRX sent me. I guess ATX has spoiled me. I like forms based tax software. Worksheets just don't cut it with me. I played for a few hours and ended up uninstalling it.
