E File Rejection Error

[Booger]

Received a rejection error stating that one of the three dependents SSN's listed on the 1040

has already been used by someone else. I believe that there was an earlier post that explained

how to interpret which one has already been used. The "code" I received was the following:

1040FD507

Form RET1040

Occurrence:1

Seq:195

Can anyone offer assistance?

It looks to be the third. I will try to post a link to the IRS site which helps to identify this for you. I had to look and look and look to find it.

It's nutty isn't it, how hard it is to find that on the IRS website? You'd think there would be a fast link offered once you go into the Professionals link.

Here's a good source for looking up field (sequence) numbers.

That's the 1040. They have them for other forms as well.

It's especially helpful for reject code 10's because those could be just about anything, but if you know what the field is and what it corresponds to you can often figure it out. :)
