michaelmars Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 1] due dates should roll over correctly to the current years due date, and should be automatically updated once an extension is created for the return. Quote
joelgilb Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Mentioned in another post but since we are starting a list: E-file Status in the return manager which automatically updates and pulls the efile status directly from the efile manager Quote
taxtrio Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Yes, I second the previous post. We definitely need the efile status to show up on the return manager. Also, we need the Address to rollover with the state refund amount. It's been great that the amount rolls over but it's is a pain to have to go in and put in the address to get rid of the efile diagnostic for incomplete information. We need the comparison worksheet to show a page of the state information. We need the invoice information (the billing / fee charged information) to flow over to the Accounts Receivable Tab in Return Manager. We need a place in the invoice to mark the bill paid, and have that show up in the Accounts Receivable Tab in Return Manager also. We need more options to sort the Return Manager field. Even the old ORR Tax program allowed you to sort the returns by certain forms contained in the return. For example, you want to sent out reminders to your clients that need to pay their quarterly estimated payments, etc. The print label function needs options to allow us to print the complete address including a long apartment number and have it fit on the label..... Allow it to show up on an extra line??? If I think on this some more I'm sure I'll have more suggestions. Hope ATX is listening in.... Taxtrio Quote
RitaB Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Make the date on the client letter link to the date on the return so I can change it easily and not spend forever editing that letter. (I like to sneak in some easy returns, and I don't want em thinking I'm sittin here with nothin to do. Plus, people coming in April 13 are gonna wait a while... IF you know what I mean.) I have a few issues with the client letter, actually. Maybe I'll fool with it now and find something I was missing, but it's a real drag. Quote
Catherine Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Massachusetts forms have a horrible problem with stuff NOT flowing through properly to forms or worksheets, and this has gone on for years. It's worse in business and partnership returns even than it is on personal ones. It is a _royal_ pain. Client letter editing is worse than anything I've seen since the days of text editors. Customizing the master only works with _new_ returns, not rolled over returns. That's obnoxious. Printing -- I'd love to be able to set a default printing order. I NEVER use their privacy statement (have my own flyers instead), and ALWAYS print the return cover sheet. Et cetera. It would be great to be able to choose what I want and save a set, rather than have to click and un-click seven gazillion little boxes every time. And fix the jumping around!!! Click one box and the whole client info section flips itself around -- SOMETIMES. Grrr!!! The return cover sheets I can edit a master but not an individual -- and I want to get the individual tweaked. Put in "Amended" for amended returns. And It isn't a "Massachusetts 1 Tax Return", it's a "Massachusetts Form 1 Tax Return" -- I'd like that extra word. Again, if I do a new return from a master it works, but not from a rolled-over return. Unless I delete the letter and reinstall -- what a pain. I'd also like extension by-mail-vouchers and estimated payment addresses to be available without having to dig so deep. Some folks want to mail a voucher with a check, and the program assumes e-filing, so you have to dig for addresses. I have a "cheat sheet" for IRS and my state -- but what about the client who also needs to extend a return for, say, Pennsylvania? I don't know those addresses and ATX doesn't make them easy to find! That's all off-hand. I'm sure there's more, though. Catherine Quote

Well, next year any custom changes you made to the client letter will roll over to the new program. Quote
michaelmars Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 the date on the invoice should lock to the date on the return. if you go today to reprint a january invoice for example the date on the invoice will be todays even if the return is locked. Quote
Catherine Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Well, next year any custom changes you made to the client letter will roll over to the new program. Well, that didn't happen _this_ year; at least for me. All the customization I did on the master last year was lost. So I re-did the master this year, and then had to re-edit _every single doggone_ client letter for rollovers. I was, shall we say, slightly steamed about that. Quote
PapaJoe Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 You can tell the program not to roll over the client letter. Then when you add the client letter to the open return, it will add your current year customized letter. Quote

PapaJoe Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 In the program click on options, then preferences, then select forms. Uncheck "Automatically add client letter." Quote
Mike D Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 When preparing two or more state returns, for example NY & NJ, the taxable income and tax paid from one state does not automaticaaly carry over to the other state and must be entered manually. This really becomes cumbersome when there are adjustments to be made, you must manually remember to correct these fields with each change. It should be noted that in other higher end CCH as well as many other manufacturers tax software applications such as ProSystem fx this is not the case. There is seamless inregration to these fields. Therefore it shouldn't be that much of an effort to fix! Thanks Mike Dubin CPA Quote
MN2V Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 I would like to see the state refund/bal due in a box up in the corner right under the fed box showing fed refund/bal due. Also, as has been suggested someplace else, MN M1 PR county and property ID number should flow from one year to the next. Quote

This has worked fine for me. Quote

kcjenkins Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Mike, have you never used the 'Start Link' 'Finish Link' button to link two fields? It's extemely simple. Go to the filed you want to link, click on the little 'chain' icon above, and then go to the filed you want the data to flow to, and click it again. That's it. Quote
