Terry O Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Ok - -I have a client who had not shown up for the past 3 years, and I figured - - he went elsewhere. But NOOOOOOOOOOO - -he had some personal problems and never filed his 1120S or 1040, or IT-201 or CT3S . My questions is - - -would anyone suggest sending ALL the Federal returns in one envelope with a letter begging forgiveness or separating them out and sending in 6 different returns. Not only do we have this problem - - no NYS tax returns were filed either. I'm guessing there will definitely be penalties on the state Corp side. The "good" news, is that they are all years with losses - - again, due to the tragic personal issues. Thank you for your help! Terry O Quote
joanmcq Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Never send multiple years in the same envelope. They will often staple everything together and just process the one on top. Quote
Don in Upstate NY Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Your other option is to hand carry them to the Buffalo walk-in office along with a cover sheet listing all the individual returns. Have them receipt stamp the cover sheet for your records. NY works the same way. (At least they did in Syracuse with a six year stack of unfiled returns.) Quote
