I have a couple of clients that have to carryforward business credits on Form 3800. This prevents e-filing and a paper return has to be filed (this is so frustrating...).

Is it possible toe-file the return without form 3800 and then file a 1040x later including the form 3800?

I'm not sure why you would want to bother. The 1040X has to be paper filed anyway, so all you've done in the end is submitted an unnecessary e-file of an incorrect return. Just paper file the thing and get it OFF your to-do list.

And remember, my advice is worth every penny you have paid for it. ;)

Catherine is right, it's not worth the extra hassle. Just go ahead and paper file it, and it's done. If you want, you might adjust how much you charge for that form to reflect the extra time it will cost you because it's not efileable.

Just a thought.
