RitaB Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Client: What's this thing where they're not holding out any taxes on me?! (OK, like I did it.) Me: Blah, blah, I explain how it is supposed to work. Client: Well, I want them to take out some tax. Me: Fill out a new W-4 and put the amount on line 6 that you want withheld. Client: Well, how much should I put? Me: What's the difference between the old checks and the new? Client: I dunno. * * * * * * * * Farmer Dude (had $18,000 loss last year, and $2000 gain on farm this year): Did everybody's refund go down this year? Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Now Rita, you know it's not allowed to strangle them. Even when they deserve it! Find some gentler way to kill them, please. BTW, I don't waste much time 'explaining' for the first type question, I just add a W-4 to their return, fill it out as I think best, and print it and hand it to them saying "If you want to, give this to your employer, and that will fix it." That puts it on them, and does not waste a bunch of my time explaining things. It's then totally their call whether they use it or not. Quote
schirallicpa Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 I have a lady who has called me twice wanting to know if she does all of the rest of the return, if I will just help her with the one part that she's unsure of, will I only charge her for that form........................ Quote
bstaxes Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Client calls a day or two before 4/15 each year and asks "can you keep me out of jail". He needs an extension some years he owes nothing other years he owes. File the extension and wait until first week in August and now the first week in October for his stuff. Drives me crazy because he needs his numbers in order in January for the previous year to get a farm loan. Oh well, at least I know its coming. Quote
