jasdlm Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I assume 2 'Cisco Switches' that cost $5,399.99 each are computer gadgets? Thanks to anyone who can help. Quote
tilt Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 You had me curious so I did a quick google. They're some kind of high speed ethernet/routing thingamajob. Quote
Dan Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I assume 2 'Cisco Switches' that cost $5,399.99 each are computer gadgets? Thanks to anyone who can help. Cisco is a company. One type of cisco switch is a local-area network (LAN) switch that provides high-speed connectivity, applications, and communications systems. Quote
PapaJoe Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 It was named after that old time TV cowboy the Cisco Kid. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 <<<<Any computer person know what a 'Cisco Switch' is?, Depreciate over 5 years - computer peripheral?>>>> I assume 2 'Cisco Switches' that cost $5,399.99 each are computer gadgets? Thanks to anyone who can help. You are correct on both counts. Quote
jasdlm Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks to all of you. 5 years it is. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I sure loved his horse, Diablo. Did you know that that was the FIRST TV series to be shot in color? Quote
Mel in Hawaii Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Yes, computer networking gear. They make a wide array of equipment from local 'switches' for departments for $100+ to high end telecomm equipment that easily could be $50k+. At that price it's either a high density switch, or a mislabeled division office router. Quote
jasdlm Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks, Mel! Lion and KC, what in the world are you two talking about? Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Hmmm, jasdim, you are obviously younger than some of us on the board or you didn't watch much television back in the dark ages. There was a cowboy show called "The Cisco Kid." You can catch radio episodes even now on some public radio stations. Some of us thought it was just great! Quote
jasdlm Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks for the info, Margaret. I'm afraid I came along after "The Cisco Kid". This is the first I've heard of him. Quote
kcjenkins Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 http://www.fiftiesweb.com/tv/cisco-kid.htm Diablo - Black & white pinto mare ridden by Duncan Renaldo when he played the Cisco Kid, a Mexican "Robin Hood of the Old West" on the western adventure THE CISCO KID/SYN/1950-56. In the original O. Henry story The Caballero's Way (1907), (the inspiration for a series) Cisco's horse was an unnamed speckled roan. In the movies (starring Cesar Romero, Gilbert Roland, Warren Daxter, and Duncan Renaldo) and the TV series, the horse was called Diablo. When Diablo retired, he was stabled at the Santa Barbara home of Duncan Renaldo. Quote
Lion EA Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 I lived in Santa Barbara during the 70's, in case you needed any more trivia. I never rode Diablo, though. Quote
Randall Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Then there was a song back in the 70s or so. I can't remember the name or group but they kept singing the refrain, 'The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine' Diablo, spanish for devil. Quote
Wendy Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 And on April 15 we can all say "Let's went, Cisco". In fact, I said that to my 4 year old grandson today and he just looked at me with that "huh?" expression. Quote
jasdlm Posted April 5, 2009 Author Report Posted April 5, 2009 Was that the way the show always ended? Quote
Randall Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Was that the way the show always ended? Didn't it always end with the two sitting still on horseback, saying to each other, 'Ah, Ceeesco, ah, Pancho! Quote
PapaJoe Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 And then "goodby amigos, see you soon!" Quote
