Edward Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 When I put "various" in box 6b - it won't clear. After going thru CHECK RETURN it suggests "1099 TAX" be entered. I did and it cleared; then on to box 7a "foreign country". The 1099 from broker dosen't identify. "various" won't work and CHECK RETURN says I need country. Called broker and they said IRS no longer requires this data. Total Tax is 48.00. Anyway, since CHECK RETURN has this as a WARNING (IN BLUE), It will efile. Will appreciate any guidance on this item. Slippery Pencil Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 There's an option for "Other Country". I believe that efiles ok. They did away w/ "various" a year or two ago. Quote
TAXBILLY Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Foreign tax of $300 or less generally does not require an 1116. taxbilly Quote
joanmcq Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Yeah, but the program requires you to enter the info anyhow, as does other programs. And ATX doens't like 'various' for some reason. Quote
TAXBILLY Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 It does not actually "require" but is informational. taxbilly Quote
