Booger Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Is there a "list" somewhere that shows which states require e-filing with the Federal (piggyback) and which ones can be e-filed alone? Or do you have to read the individual state instructions to find out. The 2 states I'm interested in are Louisiana and Mississippi. Quote
JRS Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 From Lacerte for 2008, a list of states for piggyback and stand alone. http://www.lacertesoftware.com/resources/t...info/state.aspx Quote
Booger Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks, JRS....I bookmarked that schedule. Quote
Booger Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 It appears that Mississippi can be filed as "Stand-Alone", whereas Louisiana requires piggyback filing with Federal for a non-resident. Will therefore piggyback Louisiana with the Federal, and file Mississippi and Ohio as stand-alones. Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 I hope you are right, but it's my understanding that Louisiana only allows efile if you are a full year resident. Quote
Booger Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 KC, I'll take your word for it.....will paperfile the Louisiana Non-Resident Return. The schedule did state that only Full Year Louisiana residents can e-file. Read it too fast. Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Yeah, I always have a couple of OK returns that have to be mailed for that same reason. Thank goodness AR changed to allow all individual returns to be efiled, a few years back. Now if only they'd allow 1065s to be efiled. Quote
Booger Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 KC.....FYI, talked to Kathleen Dixon at "the help desk" for Louisiana E-Filers (225)-219-2492. According to her, a non-resident Louisiana return CAN be e-filed as a stand-alone or piggybacked with the Federal. Just wanted you to know. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Ohio is a piggyback and I don't believe you can efile a non-resident Ohio return anyway. Quote

One of these days all the states should get to that point. I hope. Quote
