JohnH Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 First California, now it's Kansas. http://www.kansas.com/735/story/701750.html Wonder if we're going to need a special topic dedicated strictly to states that don't expect to pay refunds on time. Sure does make for some interesting conversation with clients about the advisability of deliberately overpaying and then waiting for a refund. Quote
Jack from Ohio Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I wonder if Ohio will be far behind... :read: Quote
GERALD Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I feel pretty sure Kentucky will join this list. They are facing a big deficit for 6-30 year end, and they have done this in the past. If they do hold them, they will probably be paid July 1, because I believe they have to pay interest after that. Gerald Quote
TAXBILLY Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 One can apply the refund to next year and then reduce withholding. taxbilly Quote
JohnH Posted March 7, 2009 Author Report Posted March 7, 2009 Add NC to the list. Nobody bothered to prepare for a cash shortfall (guess our finance people don't read the newspapers & didn't know tax revenues would decline), so now they're saying tax refunds will be "delayed a little bit". Quote

BulldogTom Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Last night I saw on the news the State Controller say that all refunds should be caught up in about 2 to 3 weeks. That is good. I am waiting for my refund in that mess. So now I claim married 12 on my CA withholding. I am thinking about moving it to married 20 to see what happens. Tom Lodi, CA Quote
