BulldogTom Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I heard that HRB is now charging a $29 consulting fee. When you sit down, they require you to pay $29 if you don't have your return filed by them. I guess they are tired of being shopped by people who get to the end of the process and take back their W2's. I don't blame them, but it is the first time I heard about it. Have any of you heard of it? Tom Lodi, CA Quote
imjulier Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I hadn't heard of it but it makes sense. I automatically charge all clients a 1/2 hour for meeting time and phone calls before I've even started on the return. And anyone who wants to come in and have me "consult" with them so they know how to self-prepare I charge $65. Just like HRB, I can't afford to have my time wasted either. Julie Quote
Maura Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I know in this area they are charging the $29. to have your return done by others reviewed. If they find anything to amend it becomes a credit toward the tax prep fee Quote
Terry D EA Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 haven't heard of it yet here in my area of NC. It does make sense though. I don't like wasting time either. I usually review a return for free and if the consulation takes longer than a half an hour than I charge 65.00 per hour after that. Hopefully during the consulation, I gain a client. Terry D. Quote

I just saw the commercial tonight, and I will have to admit I laughed out loud when the guy said, "I can't believe my eye." I never laugh out loud during tax season... Quote
