TaxmannEA Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 In the last few days, when I update the program the dialog box freezes on the "connecting to server" message and doesn't change. If I click on the cancel tab after a while the "update completed" box appears. I tried downloading an update directly from the ATX website, but this is still happening. Any ideas? Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Have you checked the Knowledge Base? If no help there, call support. The wait times are normally very reasonable now. Quote
TaxmannEA Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks KC. I tried the knowledge base with no luck. I guess I'll have to call support. What gets me is that this is happening on 2 separate computers in different locations with different operating sytems. (and different ISPs) I guess that I'm cursed. Joel Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 KC, I thought the title of this topic was an update on your ice storm and freezing weather, so I will ask. Did you get power restored at your house yet? Quote
Pedro Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I have the same situation here today, I can't update my ATX program this morning. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 It happened to me, too, a while ago. I just shut down the program and waited a few minutes. When I tried again, it went will. I think perhaps too many folks at once were trying to update and overloaded the system. Quote
Pedro Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 It's possible, later I will check again  Quote
LindaB Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I just saw this on the ATX page: Updates not downloading 02/04/2009 Some customers are experiencing issues with the updates downloading very slowly or appearing to be "frozen". solution: let the updates continue to download--it will take several minutes to even appear to be working. You may also choose to try downloading the updates later, but you may still encounter this issue. Quote
MN2V Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks LindaB. I have been having trouble also. Glad to hear it isn't just me. Time for another cup of coffee... Quote
MN dhawk Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I had the same problem. Clicking on updates would lock the program. On the 4th try, it worked normally. E-filing has been trouble free so far. Quote
kcjenkins Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 KC, I thought the title of this topic was an update on your ice storm and freezing weather, so I will ask. Did you get power restored at your house yet? Yes, got it late Sat night. We're lucky, some are still being told "10 days to 2 weeks". Quote
TAXBILLY Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Had the "freeze" problem (the program, not the ice) this morning for the first time. I control, alt, delete out of the program and restarted and everything is back to normal at the moment. taxbilly Quote
RoyDaleOne Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 30 degrees this morning 5:45AM by my temperature gauge (or gage) at Winter Springs, Florida (think Orlando) about 50 miles from Taxbilly. How warm were you Taxbilly (I want to write Taxabilly) lol. This post is about freezing???? Quote

PapaJoe Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Guess all the folks from Caribou, ME would feel right at home in sunny Florida. Quote
