JRS Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009  We are writing to inform you that Fidelity will mail your 2008 Tax Reporting Statement no later than February 28. Fidelity is taking this action to reduce the number of "corrected" tax statements that you could receive. Please note the following: Fidelity is mailing selected tax statements in late February because certain third-party tax information will not be available in time to be included in the tax statements mailed by the new IRS February 15* deadline. The third-party information includes data for certain non-Fidelity mutual funds, unit investment trusts, and real estate investment trusts. Fidelity is able to mail your tax statements in late February because we received a mailing deadline extension from the Internal Revenue Service Quote
ed_accountant Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Schwab sent out a letter saying they would issue their 1099s on 2/17. Quote
Don in Upstate NY Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 We are writing to inform you that Fidelity will mail your 2008 Tax Reporting Statement no later than February 28. I got my Fidelity 1099-INT and 1099-DIV today. However, I don't have anything exotic at Fidelity, just the usual mix of funds from Fidelity and other major houses and listed stocks and ETFs. Quote
TAXBILLY Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Got mine yesterday from Fidelity. I'll wait and see if there will be an amendment. taxbilly Quote
kcjenkins Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 A new law was passed last year changing the deadline for some 1099's to Feb. 15 (Feb 17 this year because of Sunday and a holiday). See Notice 2009-11, Brokers May Furnish Certain Composite Annual Tax Reporting Statements by February 17, 2009 at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-09-11.pdf or read about it here: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=203200,00.html Quote
joelgilb Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Maybe we need to extend tax season to Jan 31, 2010 to handle all the late forms. No, we can always work more hours in a day, because we don't really need to sleep. Quote
TAXBILLY Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 You've been sleeping?? :~) taxbilly Quote
