I JUST COMPLETED A RETURN WITH EIC FOR TAXPAYER WITH NO CHILDREN.

ON LINE 64a, THERE WAS A "NO" TYPED BESIDE THE LINE. THE EIC WAS INCLUDED

TO OFFSET THE TAX OWED, BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS IS SOMETHING

NEW WITH ATX TO SHOW THE EIC FORM IS NOT NEEDED?

Schedule EIC is not required for an EIC eligible individual with no children.

The "NO" automatically is placed on the appropriate line when the person is

eligible for the EIC, but has no children.

The program has always done that.

No would in many cases not give you any EIC.

You need to read publication 17 where "no" is required to be put on line 64a:

Rule 4, page 242

Rule 10, page 246

Rule 11, page 246

Rule 13, page 245

Rule 14, page 247
