JANIE GILMORE Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 I JUST COMPLETED A RETURN WITH EIC FOR TAXPAYER WITH NO CHILDREN. ON LINE 64a, THERE WAS A "NO" TYPED BESIDE THE LINE. THE EIC WAS INCLUDED TO OFFSET THE TAX OWED, BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS IS SOMETHING NEW WITH ATX TO SHOW THE EIC FORM IS NOT NEEDED? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP JANIE Quote
Booger Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Schedule EIC is not required for an EIC eligible individual with no children. The "NO" automatically is placed on the appropriate line when the person is eligible for the EIC, but has no children. The program has always done that. Quote
OldJack Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 No would in many cases not give you any EIC. You need to read publication 17 where "no" is required to be put on line 64a: Rule 4, page 242 Rule 10, page 246 Rule 11, page 246 Rule 13, page 245 Rule 14, page 247 Quote
JANIE GILMORE Posted January 23, 2009 Author Report Posted January 23, 2009 Thanks, OLDJACK, I did have to override some of the answers on the Worksheet. I'll go back and double check them. Janie Quote
