L.S. Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I am preparing our firms 1099-S's and when I try to create an e-file I receive error that says transferor #18 and #19 have duplicate or vague tax id numbers. For multiple errors, enter unique account numbers. Yes, they are the same transferor so yes they DO have the same tax id numbers. How can I create these 1099's to be able to e-file them? Thanks. Slappy Tax Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 To efile 1099s, each 1099 has to have a unique account number or identifying number (which is separate from the FEIN). Unless you have some reason to assign specific, more complex numbers, just number them sequentially, 1, 2, 3, 4. Quote
L.S. Posted January 5, 2009 Author Report Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks - I had input 17 of them and the program automatically entered acct. numbers, then I closed the program and added 2 more and the program didn't give them acct. numbers, but I did give them numbers and now I could create the e-files.
