MDCPA Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 I'm preparing an amended return for missed SSA-1099. There is a balance due. Original return was efiled and refund was direct deposit. Can the balance due on the amendment be direct debit from bank account? I see that option on the 1040 EF Info tab, but if selected, how does IRS know the bank info - is it sent as part of the efile transmission (even though it doesn't show on the 1040-X) as it did with the original filing? Thanks Quote
Abby Normal Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 Last time I did a 1040X, a few years ago, there was no option for direct deposit or direct debit. Not sure what the reason is. Quote
BrewOne Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 direct deposit has been allowed on an electronically filed 1040-X for a couple of years (IRS notice February 2023--no mention of direct debit). I would be concerned that direct debit might not happen by the chosen date. My understanding is that e-filed amended returns do not jump the queue, they just get there quicker. 1 Quote
