mcb39 Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 No issues here with either the server or Efile. Sorry to hear that. 1 Quote
Abby Normal Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Did you recently install windows updates? There have been many reports of the ATX server not working after windows updates. And if you're referring to the internet server, that could be a problem with your internet. 1 Quote

Christian Posted February 15 Author Report Posted February 15 It resolved after an hour or so. It's possible I signed on when their techs were making adjustments or something. 1 Quote

Also, I generally have to turn off Avast in order to log into ATX for some dumb reason. My other suggestion is to go all the way out; shut down the program and the computer and try again. That often works. Quote

Have you tried entering the appropriate ATX files as exclusions in Avast? I can't help with what those are, but I did a simple internet search for "ATX and Avast" and found what looks to be the appropriate exclusions to enter in Avast. The KB also appears to be current with a 2025 copyright date. https://support.cch.com/oss/ml/kb/solution/000207659/avast-antivirus-blocking-atx Quote Article Number: 000207659 Avast! Antivirus blocking ATX™ This can be resolved by adding exclusions to Avast!. Open Avast! by double clicking on the Avast! icon in the system tray. Click on the Settings option in the left hand pane. Select Active Protection in the left hand pane. Then click on gear icon next to File System Shield. Click on Exclusions on the left hand pane then click on the Add button. Click the Browse button. In the Browse window, expand the drive and put a check beside the following items: C:\Program Files (x86)\CCH Small Firm Services\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CCH Small Firm Services\ C:\ProgramData\CCH Small Firm Services\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolters Kluwer\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Wolters Kluwer\ C:\ProgramData\Wolters Kluwer\ You will only need to check the box beside the CCH Small Firm Services and Wolters Kluwer folders, not the folder before it. You can place the check marks in each folder at the same time (or you can do one at a time). Click OK once all the folders are selected. Once all of the folders are excluded from the active protection, ATX should open with no errors. Edited February 15 by jklcpa added link to KB and the info it contains 1 Quote
mcb39 Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 Thank you Judy. We already did attempt to shut down some Avast files, which didn't help. However, I can turn Avast off when I am working in ATX and switch to Microsoft Virus Protetection pretty easily. I will print your report and wave it in front of my IT person. Quote

You can exclude ATX files from being scrutinized by Avast then you won't have to turn Avast off. 3 Quote
