schirallicpa Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I don't come across this too often. I have a New York resident that worked in PA and in WV. On his local return can he claim credits for taxes paid in NY and WV? Quote

schirallicpa Posted February 15 Author Report Posted February 15 yes.....duh.....I knew my brain wasn't working....And it wasn't even that late in the day, or even that far into tax season. Can I throw in the towel already? 1 2 Quote
jklcpa Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Great that you figured it out. Hopefully the W-2 reports the local wage amount to be taxed, because often the PA wages on the W-2 will be different than federal wages. The largest difference usually comes from the fact that PA doesn't allow a reduction for pre-tax retirement plan contributions, but there can be other adjustments as well. 2 Quote
Terry D EA Posted February 15 Report Posted February 15 Judy is spot on with the PA wages. Drake always populates the state wages from box 1 of the W-2. I almost got caught one year for not looking at the PA wages so be careful. While the software is designed to make our lives easier, it can definitely make it miserable if you don't double check yourself. 3 Quote
