No authentication required????

Just e-filed my first return last night and received the ack back today.

Smooth as silk.  Nothing requiring authentication.

I was expecting to receive a six-digit (or more) thing to enter for authentication, but did not.

Is Drake handling the authentication at their transmission level??

It has nothing to do with transmission or e-file. It is to access the program itself at login with a popup box that appears right after entering your password. If it doesn't appear, then you have disabled (or not enabled) the MFA function within the program. 

If you want to check this or see where to change your preference, go to the "Setup" menu at top and then click on "Preparers and Users". Open the Admin user and look for this checkbox shown below. Mine checkbox says disable because I have MFA enabled, but if yours is disabled then the label on the checkbox would change and say enable.

Apparently, ATX has trashed the whole double authentication thing.  Nice, after we spent mega pages and time trying to figure out and help each other with how to do it.

Thank you Judy.  I'm one of those people who don't use a smart phone so I can't snap that crazy-looking rectangle.  I'll call Drake tomorrow.

Judy, I went to the topic but all the various posts simply tied my brain in knots.  I called Drake today and told them I would not use that crazy rectangle thing and they haven't called me back. 

If I am a poor tax man, I'm an even worse IT man.  When Drake has a solution I'll post here.

Talked to Drake again this morning.  Their response was "You must have a smart phone to obtain the authentication feature.  We don't have an alternative and we're not going to have one."

Very bad....
