GLJEANNE Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 So ATX is still "testing" MN forms, so we can't e-file until 2/13, which is awfully late for low income folks waiting on refunds. Hopefully they're using that date to give themselves a cushion, and it's won't really be that long. But what a pain! I dread having to tell clients that. Anyone else running into that issue with your states? Quote
jklcpa Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 Sometimes though, it is a holdup on the states' side of the testing, not the software vendor. 2 Quote
Lion EA Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 If they're low income to the point of EIC &/or have CTC: The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act requires the IRS to hold refunds for taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until after February 14, in order to prevent tax fraud. The IRS expects most EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by March 3 if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Otherwise, you have a teaching moment about w/h and can be a hero by helping your clients get more in their take-home pay. 1 Quote
GLJEANNE Posted January 29 Author Report Posted January 29 Not really a withholding issue for most people, it's due to state tax credits, and a change in the way we handle one in particular. So I shouldn't be surprised, I suppose, but it's frustrating. And like Judy says, maybe it's the state. Quote
BulldogTom Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 CA forms are a little later than normal this year. I have a few returns stacking up for e-file waiting for forms approval. These are usually ready by the efile start date. I am thinking the fires in SoCal may have something to do with late CA forms, but you never know. Tom Longview, TX Quote
