B. Jani Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 Hello Friends: My client moved to OH from NY. Question is the OH school district has no tax as per instruction. Do I still file SD-100 with zero tax or I can ignore the form. TIA BJ Jani Quote
jasdlm Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 I am not an OH person, but I have had the absolute worst luck with OH school district and OH local tax (RITA, Lancaster, etc). Countless notices, etc. Makes me totally crazy. Calling them doesn't seem to be helpful. I would file with zero and expect a notice, but again, I'm not an OH peep. Quote
Margaret CPA in OH Posted March 1, 2024 Report Posted March 1, 2024 I'm not sure why you would have a SD return. It is a separate return. My school district has no tax and I've never filed an SD return in 35 years for myself. 1 Quote
Slippery Pencil Posted March 2, 2024 Report Posted March 2, 2024 Skip the form. I've only had a few OH clients, but most didn't have a SD tax and I never filled out the form for them. Quote
Jim Oh Bkkr Posted March 2, 2024 Report Posted March 2, 2024 If the school district has no tax, the return isn't needed. You can verify ANY taxes due at: https://thefinder.tax.ohio.gov/StreamlineSalesTaxWeb/AddressLookup/LookupByAddress.aspx?taxType=SchoolDist A 9-digit zip should be accurate. 3 Quote
BTS Posted March 2, 2024 Report Posted March 2, 2024 Like Jim mentions. Use the link above to see if your client lives in a taxing school district. If so file the SD100. If not then there is no need to file the SD100. The finder is very accurate. Had only one case where it was wrong. To double check its accuracy one has to look at the county auditors site and look up the property details. That will show the School District the home is in. 2 Quote
