My bookkeeper is going to start working out of her home. We use ATX for tax preparation and her computer in the office is a networked workstation. Is there any way she can be set up as a workstation from her home?

We use Log Me In. I have a computer at home that has nothing on it except the operating system and internet access. Using log me in, I log in to my computer at the office. I am working on my desktop just as it is in the office. There's no need to install any software on the computer at home, unless you want to.

If my bookkeeper is logged on to the office computer and running ATX, does she control the computer so that I can't use it?

I believe the answer to that is yes. No one else uses my computer so it is not an issue in my office. But, yes, I believe that since I am controlling my computer, no one else can.

What I liked absolutely best about it, is that I did not have to buy any more software. Did not have to increase my number of licenses or anything. It really is a great tool.

I use the Remote Desktop Connection that is built into Windows XP to access my CA client's books, and I can be on their network at the same time as other users, no problem. It just has to be set up at both ends one time. And it is free, and works well. Check it out before you spend money on GoTo or other paid services.

My only problem with RDC, KC, is that I have not been able to figure out how to print at the remote PC. But your point is valid and I do use RDC when I do not have to print.

If set up properly [i let my son do that, so can't offer much guidance on the details], you should have a choice of printers at both locations. I know I can print to the office printer in CA, or to my printer next to my desk in AR, just by selecting the correct printer. Check into the setup and I bet you will find that you just need to set a permission to let you print to the office printer from home.
