1099 Amendments

I have a client that needs us to amend their 1099s, the problem is we did not do the initial filing and when I create the amended file in ATX I am getting this error: "One or more 'Correction' boxes have been selected, but return doesn't appear to be in an "Accepted" e-file status." 

Is there no way to e-file this?
