samingeorgia Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 In addition to tax work, I do a couple of audits and reviews. PPC materials are expensive and, except for the DVD with forms, questionaires, etc., not very intuitive. Are there viable alternatives? Seems like the AICPA would produce some audit / review guides with checklists, etc. Along the same lines, I received an email from the AICPA for some ungodly number of CPE hours for under $ 200 -- anybody know anything about this? jainen Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 >>PPC materials are expensive<< Ask your local chapter about practicing in your state. Here in California many, many CPA's consider the educational requirements too steep to support "a couple of audits and reviews." It's kind of a specialty niche. Quote
RoyDaleOne Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I just ordered from PPC the three guide I think I will need next year. Total cost $535.83. One audit guide, one write-up guide and one QC guide. 15% discount because I ordered three guides. PPC sells all the AICPA guides, on the web site of PPC. Quote
Randall Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I don't know of an inexpensive alternative. You might try AccountantsWorld or AccountingWEB, places like that. They have lots of ads for various products. I don't do audits anymore and I recently stopped doing compilations. I had a peer review last year because I did one compilation. I still get PPCs Compilation and Review Guide and their Financial Statement Preparation Guide. I like having the reference material available. They seem to be reasonably priced although we do sometimes get in a rut and not want to look around and make a change. Let me know if anyone knows of some good alternatives. Quote
