Lee B Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 I talked to 3 different IRS Employees today My combined wait time for all 3 calls was less than 30 minutes All 3 Employees were polite, responsive and helpful, which for me to say is high praise. Thank You 6 Quote
BulldogTom Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 What a sad state of affairs when a government employee doing their job is something we take notice of because it is so unusual... Tom Longview, TX 7 Quote
kathyc2 Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 For the most part, I've always been happy with interactions with IRS employees. I find them much more helpful than companies that send your calls to India. I hung up on a call to Comcast recently as the language barrier was too much for them to even understand what I was asking. 3 Quote
Medlin Software, Dennis Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 I limit to some sort of written format when asking for or giving assistance. Verbal assistance has no audit trail and no "standing" if relied on or challenged. For a phone call, you may as well be talking to anyone you randomly dial (unless there is something direct the person can do for you such as send a document). 2 Quote

That's not available with the IRS except via snail mail! 1 Quote
Medlin Software, Dennis Posted August 10, 2023 Report Posted August 10, 2023 Unless I can verify what I was told verbally, it is worth nothing to me. Just my opinion. Quote

Back in the day, when the PPL was fully staffed, I used to get great service from the IRS employees. They would listen, tell you what they could and could not due, and what the next steps would be to resolve the taxpayer's issue. Many times, they would be able to take a faxed document and close the issue over the phone. It has been a minute since that happened.... Tom Longview, TX 3 Quote
mcbreck Posted August 11, 2023 Report Posted August 11, 2023 I've also noticed a significant upgrade in wait times and I've never had a real problem with IRS employees when speaking to them. Most are exceptionally nice and efficient. State Department of Revenue is a completely different mess. 1 Quote
